Along with many other Rotary Clubs throughout Australia, The Rotary Club of Windsor has joined the Rotary campaign against Domestic and Family Violence, Our campaign started with the very successful Walk Ride or Run Against Domestic Violence, held at Hawkesbury Showground on 24th August and which raised nearly $60,000, all of which has been distributed to local organisations supporting victims of Domestic Violence. The text phase of our campaign is to raise awareness of Domestic & Family Violence within our Community and to educate young people of the importance of respect and respectful relationships. On average, throughout Australia, each week one woman loses her life to Domestic Violence and one male each month. Many more suffer injury. If, through our campaign, we can save a life and have a perpetrator brough to justice, we will have been successful. Unfortunately, it is believed that many instances of Domestic Violence go unreported due to fear of reprisal from the perpetrator or through embarrassment. Join with us to 'end the silence and stop the violence' by participating in community walks and events against Domestic Violence that we will be organising over coming months. Against Domestic & Family Violence Project
The Rotary Club has launched Phase 2 of its campaign to raise awareness about Domestic Violence and to educate young people of respect and respectful relationships. The bus in the photograph is one of two buses arranged by The Rotary Club of Ballina to promote their 'Against Domestic Violence Project' and we are hopeful of having a similar arrangement with our local bus operator.
With an average of one female losing her life to DV each week and one male each month throughout Australia, we must do something to stop this senseless killing. By educating young people and making the community aware of the extent of DV and the signs to look for if they feel a friend or family member may be the victim of Domestic Violence, if we stop one person from being killed or injured from Domestic Violence, we will have succeeded. Please join with us to say NO to Domestic Violence
